Lunchtime was always a kind of simple time for us growing up. Mom would make us a sandwich, carefully wrapped in waxed paper, place it in the "thou shalt return" brown paper bag, slipped some goody in with it, and handed us our nickel for milk and off we went to school!
During the summer, it was a sandwich cut in half and carefully placed on a plate, sometimes with a side of soup or some fruit. But the one thing we never saw in our lunches were chips. Those were a luxury around our house, saved for those special times like a Saturday cook out or a holiday.
These lunches are NOT your Mama's lunches! These are lunches for grown ups who want something special during the day. They could even be dinners but I think you'll like to keep them as lunches.
