Navajo Fry Bread

  •  4 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2-4 cups water (as needed)
  • Oil for frying

  1. Hand mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add the water, beginning with 2 cups, and stir with your hands, adding water until it forms a good, gluten dough that is not sticky
  3. Knead until very sooth and cover with a towel while it rises, activating the gluten
  4. Pull out golf-ball size balls and shape into small pizzas
  5. Fry in the oil and drain
