Caramelized onions aren't complex to make. Yes, people will often make it seem difficult with additions and fancy stuff, but real caramelized onions are simple and tasty.
First, you need a non-stick pan and some good-quality avocado.
Secondly, you want a very hot pan to start with. So make sure your non-stick can handle the heat.
Third, you want to slice your onions to YOUR liking but I would suggest no thinner than 1/16th" and no fatter than 1/4".
Preheat the pan on medium-high heat and add in around 3-4 tbsp oil.
Using your mandolin or sharp knife, slice up 3-4 good size onions.
Wait for the oil to shimmer but not smoke (stand by and watch closely!)
Once it begins to shimmer, toss in your onions and a shake of salt.
Turn the heat down to medium-low, covered, for 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally.
You're looking for a deep golden color.
