- 1 c unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 3/4 c tightly packed brown sugar (dark is best)
- 1 large egg + 1 yolk
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp salt
- Mix butter and sugar together
- Add the egg
- add the extract
- whisk together the remaining ingredients
- Chill for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Set oven to 30 and roll the dough into balls and then into coarse sugar
- Bake for 8-9 minutes and allow to cool on the sheet.
