There's nothing like a good, old fashioned chocolate cake! |
- 3 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1 stick unsalted butter, room temp.
- 2 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 cups sifted SDCF
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup boiling water
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Butter and flour 2 9" layer pans
- Sift flour, then lightly spoon 2 1/4 cups into a measuring cup.
- Cream butter until smooth in a large bowl.
- Add brown sugar and eggs.
- Beat with mixer until light and fluffy.
- Beat in Vanilla extract and chocolate.
- Add baking soda and salt.
- Add flour alternately with sour cream, beating until smooth.
- Pour in boiling water, stirring with a spoon until blended.
BATTER WILL BE VERY THIN!
- Pour into prepared pans.
- Bake around 30 minutes.
- Cool pans for 10 minutes.
You can also use this for a 13x9x2 sheet cake or for cupcakes.
