Orange Crinkle Cookies

The orange glaze and the rind make this
super orangy!
These are a little different from the orange cookies  in that they're designed to look crinkly, be a little thicker, and well, be double citrusy! You could also make these Lemon or even Lime crinkle cookies! But make sure to make adjustments as needed.

  • 2 cups flour
  •  1/2 tsp salt
  •  2 tsp baking soda
  •  10 tbsp butter, softened
  •  1 cup plus 2 tbsp sugar
  •  1 egg plus 1 yolk
  •  1 tbsp orange zest
  •  3/4 tsp orange extract (or emulsion)
  •  1/2 tsp vanilla
  •  extra sugar to roll the cookies in before baking (or make ORANGE ZEST SUGAR to roll them in!)

  1. Whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and orange zest.
  2. Whip the butter until light yellow and fluffy.
  3. Add in the sugar, vanilla and egg, and orange emulsion.
  4. Add dry to wet ingredients.
  5. Use a small cookie scoop to portion and roll in sugar before baking for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice plus several drops of extract
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners sugar

  1. Add all ingredients together and whip until smooth.
  2. Drizzle over cooled cookies and allow to harden.

If you want to roll them in the citrus sugar (zest sugar) you may not want to use the glaze but it's totally up to you.
