- 4 medium to large russet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Wash the potatoes well, then peel and cut them into ¼-inch thick fries-try to keep the fries as evenly sized as possible for even cooking.
- Place the cut fries in a large bowl and cover with cold water.
- Soak for 30 minutes. This is key for getting crispy fries!
- Drain the fries and pat them very dry with paper towels or clean kitchen towels.
- In a large dry bowl, toss the fries with olive oil until evenly coated.
- Add the paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and onion powder.
- Toss again until the fries are well seasoned.
- Lightly spray the inside of the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray.
- Add the fries in a single layer, making sure they aren’t too crowded — this helps them crisp up. (If using a small or medium air fryer, cook in two batches.)
- Air fry at 400°F for 10 minutes.
- Then shake the basket to flip the fries and continue cooking for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
- Let the fries cool slightly before serving — they’ll continue to crisp up as they rest.
