Ina's Honey Wheat Bread

  •  1/2 cup water at 110 degrees
  • 2 packets instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Stir until dissolved, set aside

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk warmed to 110 degrees
  • 6 tbsp melted, cooled butter
  • 1 1/2 tbsp honey

Mix together

  • Add 2 large egg yolks (only yolks!)

Mix in

  • 3 cups All Purpose Flour or bread flour 
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt

  1. add a little at a time to the liquid  and add more flour (whole wheat is good too) until it forms into a nice dough. 
  2. Knead 10 mins until smooth likea babies butt
  3. let rise covered in a greased bowl until doubled
  4. Remove, cut in half and form into loaves
  5. Place in lightly greased bread pans and bake at 350 until lightly golden brown and thumps hollow (around 20-30 minutes)
  6. Butter the top immediately after baking
