Devils' Food Cake

  • 1/2 c butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 2 squares baking chocolate, melted
  • 2 c flour (can use cake flour) sifted

  1. Cream butter and sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
  2. Dissolve soda in milk
  3. Add flour alternately with the milk and chocolate to butter mixture
  4. Mix well after each addition
  5. bake in layers at 350 for about 1/2 hour
