Cherry Blinks
- 1 3/4cups Wheaties™ cereal
- 1/2cup sugar
- 1/3cup shortening
- 1tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons milk
- 1teaspoon vanilla
- 1egg
- 1cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
- 1/2teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4teaspoon salt
- 1/2cup raisins
- 1/2cup chopped nuts
- About 36 candied or maraschino cherries
- Heat oven to 375°F.
- Crush cereal; set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix sugar, shortening, milk, vanilla, and egg.
- Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Stir in raisins and nuts.
- Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into crushed cereal; roll gently until completely coated.
- Place cookies about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Press a cherry into each cookie.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until just set.
- Immediately remove from the cookie sheet to the wire rack.
