Making Perfect Rice

  • 1 cup long grain rice or any white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

  1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the rice and stir once.
  3. Mix in salt and butter if using.
  4. Once boiling again, cover and lower the heat.
  5. Simmer gently until water is absorbed, about 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 10 more minutes.
  7. Fluff with a fork and serve warm.
