Caramel isn't that difficult to make IF you're willing to take the time and use your candy thermometer! And the benefit is SO great! You can do so much with this simple recipe.
- 1/2 cup or 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp fine salt
- 1 can sweeten condensed milk
- 1/2 cup Karo syrup (light or dark)
Place all of the above in a saucepan over medium heat and cook until it reaches 225 degrees.
It will bubble up, and you may need to lower the temperature towards the end for safety purposes.
